This is most definitely the highlight of Orvieto! The stunning views are to die for. Definitely walk around the walls to take photos to get different angles of the view below. Inside there’s also nice areas where you can sit and rest, much like a park.
Came here for a morning out and found this by accident... Such an amazing place and most excellent views. Close to the hill train and not too large grounds make for easy visit. Would highly recommend this to anyone here visiting for the day.
There are no facilities here though so plan your day well if you are intending to visit.
Very cool old castle on the hill in Orvieto. Definitely visit if you are there.
Take a walk after your view of Pozzo San Patrizio.
As u climb from the moder Orvieto uphill u start to see masive walls of fortress and the whole old town. Build around 1350 but in 1527 after sack of Rome pope Clement VII ran here, in Orvieto. He ordered to dig St. Patrick's well and also one inside of fortress, for he was afraid of another attack.
The fort lost its former glory😉, now public park inside.
Worth the walk and final stairs. Situated on top of the village, the garden provides serenity and a sense of peace. The views from the upper stairs give a 360 panorama of most wonderful beauty of the valleys below, and showing the magnificent mountains beyond.
Amazing views from this place and the ideal spot to start the walk around Orvieta, outside the city walls... “Anello della Rupe”. The walk I about 4,5 km. The park is free to enter and you can take a lot of nice pictures from over there ...
